The Blue Advanced Proof of Dolan’s Cadillac is one of the earliest and scarcest pre‑publication states associated with the 1989 Lord John Press edition. Produced before the final typesetting, binding, and limited editions were completed, this proof was printed in very small quantities and intended solely for internal review and early evaluation.
This proof is identifiable by its plain blue wrapper, a hallmark of Lord John Press’s early proof format. It contains uncorrected text, pre‑final layout, and production‑stage elements not present in the finished limited editions. These early‑state differences make the blue proof a distinct bibliographic artifact, highly prized by collectors of Stephen King pre‑publication material.
Unlike the final limited editions—1,000 numbered, 250 deluxe, and 26 lettered copies—these blue proofs were never offered for sale and were distributed only to a small circle of editors, production staff, and early readers.
